2nd International Meeting on Ancient Drama
2nd International Meeting on Ancient Drama in Kiato, Corinthia
A symposium under the title "Descent", four theater performances, four theater events and three open workshops make um the program of this year's 2nd International Meeting on Ancient Drama that takes place in Kiato, prefecture of Corinthia, from 24 to 27 of August. Highlights of the meeting, whish is organized by the Municipality of Sikyon and the Theater Attis, are the hommage to Lebanese poetess, painter and author, Etel Adnan, and the presence of the famous Polish director Wlodzimierz Staniewski.
Backbone of the 2nd International Meeting on Ancient Drama in Sikyon is naturally the Symposium on "Descent" (the way down to the underworld). Apart from the Adnan hommage, the Symposium also features playwright Marios Pontikas, who presents his most recent work "Cassandra in Hades."

- Kostas Arvanitakis, professor of Psychoanalysis in the McGill University, Canada

- Savvas Patsalidis, professor in the English Literature Dept. of the Thessaloniki Aristotelian University
- Eracles Logothetis, author and theater critic
- Yorgos Sabatakakis, professor in the University of London and the University of Patras (Dept. of Theater Studies)
- Penelope Hadzidimitriou, professor of theatrology and scientific collaborator of the Thessaloniki Aristotelian University
The speeches are followed by various theater events. More specifically:
- "The descent of Yurupari to Hades" by the Colombian anthropologist, director and actor Carlos Araque
- "Exodus" with actors Yorgos Symeoniodis and sofia Michopoulou
- "Elpinor-friend unburried" by director-actress Roula Pateraki
- "Goethe's Persephone" by Eleni Varopoulou, interpreted by Evriklia Sofroniadou
There are also three open workshops presented by participating directors:
- "Forgotten Techniques of Ancient Drama" with Wlodzimierz Staniewski
- "The Memory of the Body" with Theodoros Terzopoulos, Savvas Stroubos, Meletis Elias
- "Interpretation techniques" with Roula Pateraki
Last but not least, the works of the meeting conclude with theater performances taking plca at the Ancient Theater of Sikyon:
- Lucius Apuleius' "Metamorphosis" and Euripides' "Electra" directed by Wlodzimierz Staniewski
- Aeschylus' "Descendants" directed by Theodoros Terzopoulos
- Aristophanes' "The Frogs" directed by Yorgos Karvountzis
