in the USA - performances, lectures, master classess
(March 2-17, 2003)


A brief chronology:

4.03.2003 - the Yale University, the Yale School of Drama, a one-day master class for the students of the direction department run by Włodzimierz Staniewski, assisted by actress Ann-Helen McLean .
4.03. -a lecture on various aspects
of working on an ancient Greek drama held in the auditorium of the Yale Repertory Theatre. It was received with a standing ovation and followed by an invitation
of long residency for the company next year.
5-11.03.2003
Gardzienice at The Getty Centre w Los Angeles:
- two presentations of 'Metamorphoses' (with an addional part II) at the Harold M.Williams Auditorium
- an unprecedented lecture/demonstration for which Staniewski and his associates were allowed to use the ancient vases and terracotta figures of the 5th to 2nd c. B.C. These exhibits were brought from the world famous Getty Museum and given
to the artists for 4 hour preparation
and 2 hour lecture/demonstration.
All that happened under the strict supervision of guards and conservators. The improvised lecture won enthusiastic reception of the audience of professionals from the Getty, UCLA, and invited artists (including Polish artists living in California
-Barbara Kraftówna, Zbigniew Rybczyński)

The Getty Centre forwarded a proposition of further cooperation

13-15.03.2003, a training programme
at the Stanford Univeristy
- a workshop run by the actors, led
by Mariusz Gołaj and Tomasz Rodowicz,
- W. Staniewski's lecture on the company's history and their working methods
- film screening,
- Metamorphoses performed.
The programme was very well received. Professor of Drama at the Stanford Univeristy Carl Weber, a former associate of Bertold Brecht, expressed its high appreciation.

Staniewskiand his associates were invited to the Helena Modrzejewska Club on 9th March to present their company, a warm and friendly meeting was attended
by ca.100 people.
